Free Tax Assistance
IRS Free File: Free use of tax software for individuals with annual income less than $73,000 and free file fillable forms for annual income over $73,000.
VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance): Offers three different options for help preparing taxes based on income and computer and internet access. Call 2-1-1 to schedule an in-person appointment.
VITA Tax will have a 35-foot bus in the parking lot behind the library & Marks Place. Their service hours will be from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with setup at 9:30 AM and departure by 4:30 PM. Those waiting for their appointments will be accommodated inside the library.

Michigan Homestead Property Tax Credit
For those meeting certain income requirements, Michigan’s Homestead Property Tax Credit can help reduce property taxes. If eligible, you may receive a credit for a portion of the property taxes paid on your homestead. This program is designed to provide relief to taxpayers based on income, and the credit amount varies accordingly.
