Library Lines - 9/1/2021

Fall is in the air and if you’re anything like me, you’re ready to cozy up with a new book! The good news is you don’t need to look any farther than the Eaton Rapids Area District Library for your next great read; AND if you like electronic materials you don’t even need to leave your couch to take advantage of the Library’s wide array of e-items!

We have several different electronic platforms so let’s break them down for you:

  • OverDrive allows cardholders access to eBooks, eAudiobooks, and (now) magazines
  • TumbleBooks gives on-demand access to fiction and non-fiction works specifically for Grades K-6
  • Hoopla provides on-demand access to cardholders for eBooks, eAudiobooks, comics, movies, and TV
  • Kanopy offers on-demand access to cardholders for movies and TV shows

You can find direct links to all of these resources (and more) on our website (https://eradl.org). Access to many of these resources is gained by entering your Library Card number in as your username (or your email once you have registered), and your initial pin is userpass (once you log in the first time to these sites you may change your pin to whatever you would like).

While many of our electronic resources do require users to have a Library Card through the Eaton Rapids Area District Library, remember that anyone who resides in the City of Eaton Rapids, Eaton Rapids Township, or Hamlin Township is eligible for a free Card, which you can apply for in person or through our website.

Finally, don’t forget that September is Library Card Sign-up Month, and we are celebrating with another Reading Challenge through Beanstack! All we ask is that you read for at least five (5) hours in September and log it into Beanstack. At the end of the month, anyone with at least five hours of reading in Beanstack will be entered to win a $50 Amazon gift card! We will also be hosting a variety of programs and weekly Take and Make crafts are available on a first-come-first-served basis.

Thank you for helping us celebrate National Library Card Sign-Up Month! If you have questions, comments, or concerns please contact me directly (acurtis@eradl.org or 517-663-0950 x401). Happy reading and exploring with your library card in person and online!
