This week’s Eaton Rapids Area District Library employee spotlight is a very special one: Tammy Walker!
Tammy has been an ERADL Library Assistant on and off for approximately 8 years, but has recently announced that November 4, 2020 will be her last official day with us. While everyone on staff is very happy for her, we also know the Library will be a much different place without her there.
While not an Eaton Rapids native she raised her three children (now all adults) in the community and plans to stay close by to continue to care for her menagerie of pets; but anyone who has ever talked to Tammy knows that her pride and joy are her grandsons. She is an integral part of their lives and I’m sure they are thrilled to have their nana back full time in November.
Similar to other staff members, Tammy’s favorite thing about working for the Library is the people. She loves being able to bring the community together to craft, learn and laugh, and there is always a lot of laughter when Tammy is around!
Tammy loves all animals, and in addition to talking your ear off about all her cats, dogs, birds and the wildlife at her house, she would recommend any non fiction book about animals.
Tammy has been such an important part of the Library that we want to make sure we send her off the best way possible. Please consider sending her congratulatory cards to the Library, or if you would rather, you can post on her kudoboard (https://www.kudoboard.com/boards/mTZA15mf) by sharing a story, picture or general well wishes for her retirement. Additionally, we are planning a parade on November 4th at 5:30 pm through our back alley so that anyone that wishes to come and send her off in style can do so.
As a true testament to who Tammy is, when asked what she loved most about working at the Library she talked first about the community and her programs, and then added “I absolutely love the people I work with, and being part of a team that has made such a difference in growth of the Library has been amazing.”
Well Tammy, I speak for myself, as well as the rest of the staff and the entire Eaton Rapids community when I say that it has been an absolute pleasure to be with you, and we are so thankful for the time (and the many laughs) you’ve shared with us!
